what makes you different from a catalog order company or another invitation source?

glad girl would be delighted to produce an original layout and design, hand select quality materials and ultimately hand assemble a full paper ensemble for your celebration.

i am an artist. mine is a small but enthusiastic art studio incorporating graphic design technologies generally to enhance a fine art focus rather than dominate. you and i will collaborate to create a design that is solely yours and i will hand assemble the final product.

it is true you will pay more than a catalog order company but your invitation will be like nothing else your guests have ever received. it will be a creative expression of you and your celebration. it will spark excitement and anticipation, setting the stage for all of your festivities. it will be so genuine and exquisite that your guests will feel as though they have received a precious gift worthy of keeping, displaying or, at the very least, showing off to the next door neighbors.

are you able to take really small or really large quantity orders?

our handcrafted, hand assembled invitations and creative objects require a tremendous amount of time and attention to detail. to ensure quality, an order for approximately 300 pieces is our limit. if you anticipate a large order, it is never too early to contact us to discuss your needs. your smaller orders are always welcome. no order is too small.

what will it cost?

your cost will vary depending upon your individual requirements. as such, there are no templates to choose from and no flat fees. because each piece is custom designed and handcrafted, the price will reflect the materials chosen and the amount of detail involved. your budget will be taken into consideration right from the start and we'll shop quality materials at the most discounted prices to maximize our creative potential. prices for an invitation with response card and one enclosure range from $12 to $40+ per set. price per piece does not include postage, addressing or the cost to ship your completed order to you.

what method of payment do you accept & when is payment due?

a price per piece or project estimate will be provided after creative collaboration. a signed client agreement and 75% of the total order estimate must be received to initiate production. the remaining 25%, plus or minus any additions or changes, postage and shipping costs, must be paid within 15 days of receipt of your order.

we gladly accept cash, cashier's check, personal check or money order. we also accept us-issued cards bearing a visa, mastercard, american express, discover or jcb logo including the following card types: credit, debit, corporate and pre-paid. you can read more about card payment options in our blog entry, we gladly accept credit card payments.

how many pieces should i order?

we generally suggest you order 10% (but no less than 12) more pieces than you think you will require. these extras will allow you to easily handle last-minute or b-list guests, as well as ensure you have at least one for your own keepsake. we base your cost on the total quantity of pieces initially ordered. if you find that you must reorder, your cost will be recalculated based on additional material costs and labor. your price per piece could be as much as 30-50% higher than your original cost.

when should we make the initial contact with you?

a schedule for design, production and delivery, based on your personal deadlines, is prepared at the onset. keep in mind that with custom invitations the creative process does take time. the more time we have to collaborate, the more meaningful your invitation will be to you and your guests.

we recommend you abandon published checklists and timelines. contact us as soon as the date is set. it is never too early, especially if you might be interested in a full ensemble (for example: save-the-dates, invitations and programs). 6 to 9 months before the event date is ideal though. we will try to handle rush orders (3 months or less) as our creative schedule will allow. there's no harm in asking.

one last thought for you to consider...as a general rule, party invitations will be mailed to invited guests 3-6 weeks prior to your celebration. wedding invitations will be mailed to guests 6-8 weeks prior to your wedding date. if yours is a destination wedding or an event destination that will require guests to travel, you will likely need to mail out invitations even earlier (10-12 weeks).

how do we get started?

anyone can place a catalog order and have a run-of-the-mill, used-by-millions, cookie-cutter invite delivered to their door within 3-5 business days. since you've clicked your way this far, we know what you're really looking for is an engaging creative process that will yield something that'll absolutely knock their socks off...

for some, not having it all charted out in black and white and wrapped up in a pretty bow right from the get-go can make taking the first creative step hugely intimidating. we promise, you'll just be so glad once you do!

it'll be painless and a bit exhilarating. simply contact glad girl by phone or by email. share a little bit about yourself, the details of your event and what specific design ideas you might already have. making initial contact is not a binding contract but we do look so forward to creating with you!
