secret rose garden

inspiration

early in our creative collaboration, gretchen told a beautiful story of why yellow roses are a symbol to her of a strong loving relationship and a kind of good luck charm. on her grandma's 21st birthday, gretchen's grandpa gave her grandma 21 yellow roses and continued the tradition every year thereafter. gretchen and jason were married in hawk hollow chapel, bath, michigan, where you must pass through an exquisite greeting hall with a carved oak ceiling of roses to enter its intimate sanctuary. gretchen's bridesmaids were dressed in clover green carrying bouquets of white hydrangeas and yellow roses. the couple carried out their secret garden motif with lush vintage floral arrangements, lacey garden lanterns and manzanita branches with low hanging votives. they were specific about using a pocket invitation style and a pictorial timeline. creative direction was also drawn from their wedding website password, lovebirds, and their intention to use a wedding tree guest book.
